The debris is from the stars in space when they are going to bed. Some items are from Ouva's bedroom as well. You can see an explorer's map, an owl, a helmet, an alarm clock, a compass, blocks, and slippers.

The STEM kickstarter children’s book, Ouva Hugs a Star, launched on kickstarter in April 19, 2021 to great fanfare. The book achieved its 30-day campaign goal by closing at 103% with $5,896 in funding, across 79 backers. As part of this campaign, more than 50 books will be donated to local libraries and bookstores.

The Ouva Hugs a Star kickstarter campaign received pledges from friends, family, and strangers alike to complete the 30-day goal reaching over 100%. SGP is so thankful to everyone who joined in on the kickstarter campaign to bring this modern STEM children’s book to girls everywhere.

This heartwarming bedtime book tells the story of an adventurous girl who sets off to discover things that seem usually left for boys—like being an astronaut who goes to space. Ouva Hugs A Star brings STEM careers, like this, to young girls that inspire discovery, imagination, and self-confidence. 

Children will love how Ouva's bedroom imaginatively leads her into space, with just a slip under the covers. Together, you and your daughter, or favorite little girl, will take part in Ouva’s journey finding her first star, learning about what it means to be an astronaut, and more. Parents will get brought back to when they were allowed to play and make believe, turning ordinary bedtime into something extraordinary.

Ouva Hugs A Star is a 32-page, fully illustrated children's book. It will be printed in the USA as a 10"x10" hardcover, perfect for reading in bed with your little one. It will also come with an illustrated book sleeve. I believe in classic children's lit—and am striving to have my book embody the classic ways children's books were made are made.
